What does it look like when a whole city prays together? For nearly thirty years, the Greater Hartford Multi-Faith Prayer Breakfast has answered that question, reaching across religious boundaries to celebrate shared beliefs and to acknowledge that our diverse communities need one another. This year's theme: 'Building Community Across Traditions.' Come for the music, the greetings from city and state leaders, and a wonderful Middle Eastern-style breakfast, and leave knowing you've stood with neighbors of many faiths. We hope to see you there: https://www.hartfordinternational.edu/news-events/events/29th-annual-greater-hartford-multifaith-prayer-breakfast

When ‘detours’ are encountered, they actually might ‘be the way’ that the person can in fact achieve happiness or find their true life purpose." Attend his event!

Why are so many young Jewish adults studying Yiddish? For many, it’s a way to connect with family history and express cultural identity apart from the institutions that shaped earlier generations. Explore what this revival means for college chaplains supporting Jewish student communities, and how it opens the door to belonging for students who don’t feel at home in traditional settings.

For many Jewish college students, a centuries-old language is opening new avenues for connection. Five years after the pandemic disrupted nearly every faith community in the United States, many congregations are finding steadier ground – more people in pews, more volunteers showing up, and faith leaders reporting they’re doing better than they were a couple years ago. New HIRR research examines that recovery and what’s holding some congregations back. Explore what the findings reveal and how HIU’s Doctor of Ministry program is helping ministry leaders navigate what’s next.

New research points to real, if uneven, recovery five years after COVID-19 upended congregational life. Explore what the findings reveal and how HIU’s DMin program helps experienced faith leaders understand change and contribute to a thriving congregation.

Students from the Master of Arts in International Peacebuilding (MAP) program visited the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, October 1, for a firsthand look at how diplomacy and mediation work in practice.

The visit was organized by Phoebe Milliken, Director of the MAP program, and Hina Athar Khan, Assistant Director, who thought the conversation was especially timely due to Pakistan's recent facilitative role in de-escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran.
Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh welcomed the delegation and shared his perspective on maintaining communication between parties during periods of tension, the relationship between national interests and diplomatic efforts toward peace, and the role embassies play in communication, representation, and engagement.

He also briefed the students on Pakistan's longstanding commitment to peace, dialogue, and conflict resolution. He highlighted the country's diplomatic legacy, its enduring partnership with the United States, and its recent mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.

"Our consistent quest for peace has dictated our diplomatic effort, as evidenced by our role in peacemaking, peacekeeping and peacebuilding for almost eight decades now," the Ambassador told the group.

In the question-and-answer session, the students learned about the balance between transparency and privacy in diplomacy, the role of youth in diplomacy and peacebuilding, and the challenges and opportunities associated with youth populations.

This was an exceptional opportunity for our peacebuilders-in-training at HIU. A central takeaway for the students was Pakistan's approach to conflict resolution through quiet and consultative diplomacy.

Hearing directly from a sitting ambassador allowed them to connect the theories of mediation and conflict transformation they study with the practical realities of managing international affairs.
