Recently, CT State Capital’s Equity Center welcomed Hartford HealthCare to campus for a Health Talk & Screenings event for our students, faculty, and staff. Attendees received free health screenings, spoke one-on-one with health care professionals, and learned about preventive care and resources available throughout the Greater Hartford community.

For many in our campus community, balancing classes, work, and family leaves little time for routine health care. Bringing these services directly to campus removes a barrier and makes it easier for people to put their health first.

Creating space for conversations like these is part of how CT State Capital supports the well-being of the people who make our campus what it is.

Curtain Up: An Evening of Theater, Talent & Giving

Join us THIS THURSDAY, Oct. 15, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Sea Tea Comedy Theater in Hartford to support the Theater Program at CT State Capital!

Our students will take the stage with musical theater numbers, improv games and scenes from “As Bees in Honey Drown.” Stay until the end, because we’ll be announcing an exciting new collaboration with comedian and talk show host Sheryl Underwood. 🌟

At CT State Capital, we know that student success extends well beyond the classroom. This fall, several campus initiatives highlighted how we support students holistically.

Our monthly Cereal Day continues to provide students with a free breakfast before class, a simple step toward addressing basic needs so students can focus on learning.

The Library hosted a Meet & Greet that connected students with academic resources designed to support their coursework and research. Students also shared what they value most about the library, offering helpful insight into how these services make a difference.

Our Student Government Association held its Recruitment event, giving students the opportunity to explore leadership roles, connect with campus clubs, and learn about the support services available to them.

Initiatives like these help build a sense of belonging, which plays a vital role in student engagement and persistence. We are grateful to the faculty, staff, and student leaders who make this work possible.

Great things happen when talent meets opportunity.

On Thursday, Oct. 15, the Capital Foundation invites the community to Curtain Up: An Evening of Theater, Talent and Giving. CT State Capital's theater students will take the stage at Hartford's Sea Tea Comedy Theater for a dynamic program of musical theater, improv and scenes from Douglas Carter Beane's "As Bees in Honey Drown."

This evening is more than a performance. It is an investment in the students who will shape Connecticut's creative future. Proceeds directly support the continued growth of the Theater program, expanding the training and opportunities that help our students build confidence, collaboration skills and careers in the arts.

What a night on Pratt Street! 🎉

CT State Capital students brought the energy to Hartford College Fest, the welcome back celebration hosted by the Hartford Chamber of Commerce - CT, Hartford Young ProfHartford Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs (HYPE), and The City of Hartford. The music was loud, the dance floor was full, and the vibe was pure Hartford pride.

Our students connected with peers from UConn Hartford, University of Hartford, Trinity College, and University of Saint Joseph, explored pathways to a four-year degree, and walked away with prizes, new friends, and plenty of smiles.

We were also thrilled to have Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam join the celebration and welcome students back to the city!

Hartford is a college town, and this semester is off to an incredible start. Thank you to the Hartford Chamber of Commerce/HYPE for bringing our campuses together!

On September 30, CT State Capital’s Hartford Heritage: Herencias Latinas and the Capital Foundation, in collaboration with The Wadsworth, welcome writer and Columbia University professor Jaquira Díaz.

📚 2 p.m.: Book signing of Ordinary Girls in our Library (employees & students)
🥂 5 p.m.: Reception at The Wadsworth, 600 Main St., with the ¡Batey Boricua! art exhibit
🎤 6 p.m.: “Ordinary Girls, Extraordinary Voices” in The Wadsworth auditorium

As part of the University of Hartford's Women’s Advancement Initiative and LEAD program, CT State Capital and CT State Tunxis President, Dr. Sharale W. Mathis, will be presenting at "Crossroads of Leadership: Lessons Across Industries" on September 22!

The event features a panel of leaders from healthcare, higher education, and entrepreneurship sharing their advice, career lessons, and leadership philosophies.
