Congratulations to UConn Law alumni John J. Kennedy, Jr. ’78, John F. Wynne, Jr. ’84, and Mark A. Milano ’85 on being honored by the New Haven County Bar Association at its annual dinner!

John J. Kennedy, Jr. (of Kennedy, Johnson, Schwab & Roberge, P.C.) received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the legal profession.
John F. Wynne, Jr. (of Buckley Wynne & Parese) received the Yale Sappern Civility Award, which is intended to encourage civility in the courthouse and legal community.
Mark A. Milano’s firm, Milano & Wanat, LLC, received the President’s Award.

He examines the importance of meaningful human oversight in AI governance, highlighting how practical, risk-based safeguards can help organizations responsibly deploy AI, mitigate potential harms, and realize the technology's benefits.

Within a week of completing her final exams at UConn Law, Catherine Cheek ’26 stood before the Connecticut Supreme Court to argue a murder appeal. She was one of the students in the Criminal Defense Appellate Clinic working alongside Connecticut public defenders to help reverse a murder conviction, securing a new trial.

The Latine Law Students Association held two events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The first was a kickoff social event featuring food, activities, and music as they celebrated the vibrant histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latine communities. The second was Sobremesa: LLSA's annual diversity networking event, bringing more than 20 attorneys to campus to meet with students.

Student organizations help shape our campus community through service, advocacy, mentorship, and outreach. Their dedication to giving back demonstrates the power of students working together to create meaningful impact.

Join the Connecticut Law Review on Friday for the Connecticut Law Review Symposium: Integrity and New Corruption featuring Senator Chris Murphy '02 as well as expert law professors and practicing lawyers.

Panelists will address topics including the weaknesses in U.S. federal, state, and local laws that fail to reign in corruption domestically and the institutional weaknesses that fail to curb it. We will pose a wide-ranging set of questions to our participants, who will come from across the country and from both academic and law enforcement backgrounds. Are forms of corruption surfacing that our laws and institutions have not been designed to address? Have institutions been weakened that we have traditionally relied upon? What lessons can we learn from the successes and failures of other countries?

Today is Law Student Mental Health Day! Every law student’s journey is unique and comes with big wins, tough moments, lifelong friendships, and unforgettable lessons – through it all we are here help you navigate the challenges, embrace the opportunities, and celebrate your success.

UConn Law, led by our Office of Student Affairs, believes a crucial part of our role is supporting the whole student by reinforcing the importance of managing stress, preventing burnout, supporting mental health, and developing healthy habits for a sustainable legal career.

We celebrated Well-Being Week with moments of levity (flowers, socks, donuts, cupcakes) and learning. Thank you to Brian McManus (Lawyers Concerned For Lawyers, CT ) and Sara Bonaiuto ’18 (Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section & Shipman & Goodwin LLP) for offering our students guidance on burnout. And thank you to Heidi Alexander (Board of Bar Overseers and Former Executive Director of the MA Supreme Judicial Court Standing Committee on Lawyer Well-Being) for speaking on wellness as a lawyer’s professional responsibility.

We made new memories with old friends during Law Reunion! Alumni traveled from across the country, including California, Florida, Tennessee, and Illinois, to reconnect with classmates and celebrate their time at UConn Law.
