Our very own Dr. Angela Ball will be giving a poetry reading at McNeese State this Friday as part of the Frank Granger Poetry Series. Several of our alumni teach at McNeese and we can't wait for a mini Center for Writers reunion.

📸 HISTORY MAJOR SPOTLIGHT 📸: Meet another one of our brilliant history students!

"My name is Lily Bridges, I am 20 years old and I am from D'Iberville Mississippi. I love modern British and European history and am particularly interested in art, fashion and food history!

"I love so many things about the USM history program and I have had absolutely amazing professors who are more than willing to help me in and out of class, my favorite opportunity for history majors or anyone interested in history here is the British Studies summer course. It was the experience of a lifetime.

"I would encourage any incoming or future history students to do two things. Firstly, do your readings and engage in class! Ask and answer questions, trust me it adds to your own experience and will benefit you if you read and engage! Secondly, I would encourage you to talk to your teachers! They want nothing more than to help you understand and succeed and are all very knowledgeable and helpful.

"If I were to live in another time and place, I think that I would say Regency into Victorian England because a) I would be relatively unbothered by foreign conflicts and Britain was relatively peaceful. b) because I love Jane Austen and I like to study that era/place so I think it would be cool!"
