The Golden Eagle Tuba Society is headed to the 2026 Southeast Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference in Athens, Georgia, and we’re selling baked goods tomorrow morning to raise funds for the trip! If you’re on or near the USM campus, stop by the Intermezzo lobby between 9 am and 12 pm!

I'm so excited to have Hiram Diaz coming in next March. Check out the bio below. 2025 Southern Miss Brass Symposium | Meet the Artists – Today, we are excited to share a bit about our euphonium artist – Hiram Diaz. Hiram Diaz is a euphoniumist, trombonist, vocalist and music educator in the Washington DC area. A second generation Cuban American, he grew up in Miami, Florida surrounded by the Latin-American diaspora and its incredible contributions to the arts. As a euphoniumist Hiram has played solo and recital performances throughout the United States and abroad. He has been a featured soloist at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois, various International Tuba and Euphonium Conferences, and recently with “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band on their National Concert Tour. He has performed as guest euphonium, trombone, or bass trumpet with such groups as the Baltimore Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, and National Symphony, and New York Philharmonic. Currently, Hiram proudly serves as a euphoniumist in “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in Washington D.C., a position he has held since 2012.
