Sigma Nu - Theta Gamma Chapter

Sigma Nu - Theta Gamma Chapter Welcome to the official page of Sigma Nu at Southern Miss! Here, we will be keeping everyon

Founded at Southern Miss in 1969, Theta Gamma was chartered exactly 100 years after Sigma Nu’s birth. At Virginia Military Institute, in 1869, a small group of incoming freshmen decided that they shouldn’t have to perform demeaning acts to gain acceptance in an oppressive student organization. Thus, Sigma Nu was created in opposition to hazing and emphasized moral leadership. The belief that men should be treated as men, and the idea that development can take place outside of the classroom, carry on today through Theta Gamma Chapter. You can see this in our Candidate Program; which provides you, not with the burden of being a subservient “pledge”, but with the needed tools to be an effective Active member of Sigma Nu.

Forever in our hearts: beloved friend and brother Seth Michael Allison, ΘΓ 691.

Seth wasn’t just a typical college student; he changed every life he touched. He was deeply involved not only in the Theta Gamma Chapter of Sigma Nu but also across the campus of The University of Southern Mississippi. As part of the Fall 2024 Candidate Class of the Legion of Honor, Seth served as recruitment chairman for two years, sharing his passion for Sigma Nu and encouraging new students to join the brotherhood. He also served on the Golden Eagle Welcome Week (GEWW) Executive Board, welcoming countless students to the university and its cherished traditions.

Seth never entered a room without a smile and an infectious personality. His legacy will leave a lasting impact not only on our chapter but on many for years to come. He was the embodiment of Love, Truth, and Honor. We will continue to share Seth’s memory and honor him always. He will be forever missed.

Last week we hosted our annual Charity Soccer Tournament, Kickin It’, and it was a huge success. Thank you to all of our sponsors who helped us raise over $9,000 and help Extra Table Food Bank provide over 36,000 meals to those in need across the entire state. We couldn’t be more proud of our guys for all the hard work that went into putting this together. Big shoutout goes to Charlie Murphree our Philanthropy Chair for organizing all this. Thanks to all the teams who played and congrats to our two champions and .sae.
