ICS student Corinne Fraley and Dr. Anthony Casey presenting their paper on TCK experiences saying goodbye at the recent meeting of the Evangelical Missiological Society. EMS is the leading scholarly missions society in the U.S. Corinne surveyed 64 TCKs on their experiences with loss and leaving for this project. The paper was well received and we hope it will influence mission agencies' practices with moving family units and enable overall better health and effectiveness on the field.

— THAILAND

Prayer Points:

•Pray for the two villages Dawn Bin and San Kan Taa, just outside the city of Chiang Mai, Thailand. There is much spiritual darkness in these villages. Recently, new believers have been baptized and added to the very small group that meets weekly there. Please pray for the light to overcome the darkness in this place. Pray for the believers—children, college students all the way up to grandmothers to be solid in their faith and live out their faith in the midst of the darkness, unbelief and oppression. It is a very strong Buddhist community filled with fear of evil spirits.

•Pray for young single Thai believers to remain firm in their beliefs of not marrying nonbelievers. Pray for them to find husbands and wives who share their faith and desire to worship and serve the Lord together. There are many more young women than men who are believers. When young women start getting closer to their 30s they desire to married so badly that they often settle for dating a nonbeliever and then end of marrying them. Pressures for marriage by parents and society is great, unless they are very successful on their own financially.

•Pray for those who have not yet trusted in Jesus as their Savior or never heard the gospel before to be desperate and seeking for true fulfilling satisfaction in their lives. Pray that God would help them to recognize the temporary satisfaction of money, fame, s*x, power, food, alcohol, drugs, knowledge is not enough. Pray for them to be in a position to be open to the truth and when they find it to receive and believe it.

•Pray for Christian workers and Thai believers to boldly share their faith in loving and kind ways that break through the thick wall of the cloud of Buddhism and deceit that is prevalent in this culture.

• Cambodia
-
Cambodia is a culturally Buddhist county in South East Asia. The Khmer people are genuinely kind people, but are very spiritually lost.
-
HOW TO PRAY
-
1.Evangelism training this week. People will be trained how to share their faith using a technique called “Four Visits “ where they will visit in peoples homes and ask specific questions to get them thinking about eternal things.

2. Hearts of Cambodians to be open to the Gospel.

3. Pray that the government will allow the schools to reopen. Schools have been closed since the Covid crisis and a lot of demands are being placed on schools to reopen. Many private schools do not have the funds necessary to do this and it hurts the children.

Lebanon (MNN) — Beirut’s port caught fire again Thursday, sending a thick column of black smoke into the sky.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported and the fire was soon put out. But the scare unsettled Beirut’s people, taking them right back to the day the city was decimated by last month’s blast.

Beirut still lies in ruins after the explosion, and 300,000 people lost homes. LSESD is helping with recovery efforts providing meals and food vouchers to those who need them, as well as helping people fix up their homes.

LSESD is also working to fix up schools. According to the Ministry of Education, 162 schools, public and private in Lebanon, have received material damages, some more than others. Amongst those are inclusive schools that have centers for special needs. At LSESD, special needs are one of our major areas of focus. Schools with special needs often are not a priority even in the best of times, and certainly not after this disaster.

Pray God will provide for relief efforts in Beirut, and pray for Christians in the city as they show Christ’s love by caring for their neighbors.
