For everyone who missed Federico Carlassara’s beautiful presentation on “The Amnesia of Psychology” for the California Phenomenology Circle. 🧠

We’re taught that psychology’s history is a straight line of progress — Wundt, Watson, Neisser, and up to the brain scan. But that tidy story quietly forgot the parts that didn’t fit: the thinkers who, in the very same years, imagined a psychology that could actually reach the human being as a subject rather than an object.

Dilthey, Brentano, Husserl. Not refuted — just not selected. The task now is to remember them.

Flash class on phenomenology—“Time must have a stop…otherwise, the before always determines the after.” (James Hillman) Learning to see the patterns of our experience can help us break with a before that keeps coming back as an after.
