Join us for a thought‑provoking faculty research presentation by Michael Polgar, Ph.D., professor of sociology, Holocaust educator, and descendant of Holocaust survivors.

🕯️ In observance of Yom HaShoah, this presentation, "Words cannot express…the Holocaust distorts language,” examines how expression and communication were distorted, diminished, and destroyed by N**i violence. Drawing from Holocaust memoirs, Dr. Polgar explores how concentration camp prisoners endured degrading directives and constant threats, while the broader public was subjected to propaganda and disinformation.

📅 Tuesday, April 14
⏰ 1:30 PM
📍 Graham 109

This event honors the memory of those who were murdered or died during the Holocaust and invites reflection on the power—and vulnerability—of language under extreme violence.

🎉 Congratulations, Tiffany Veet ’14 Hazleton! 🎉

We are proud to recognize Tiffany Veet as one of Penn State’s 2026 Alumni Achievement Award recipients. Tiffany, along with nine other young alumni, will be recognized at an awards ceremony on Friday at University Park.

Tiffany is the head of drug substance continuous improvement APU support at Sanofi, where she provides strategic leadership for vaccine manufacturing and operational excellence. Since joining Sanofi in 2014, her work has helped advance vaccines for yellow fever, influenza, and COVID 19, strengthening public health around the world.

A graduate of Penn State Hazleton, Tiffany earned her bachelor’s degree in engineering in 2014 after transferring from University Park to find the academic environment that best suited her success. She earned a master’s degree in bioengineering from Wilkes University in 2018 and holds a Lean Six Sigma certification from Villanova University.

Tiffany’s commitment to Penn State continues well beyond graduation. She is the immediate past president of the Hazleton Campus Alumni Society, serves on the Penn State Alumni Council and Executive Board, and previously returned to campus as an adjunct instructor in engineering mechanics, mentoring the next generation of engineers.

Her professional impact, dedication to service, and lifelong connection to Penn State exemplify the spirit of the Alumni Achievement Award.

👏 Join us in congratulating Tiffany on this well-deserved honor!
