For more than four decades, Professor Joseph W. Munzenrider shaped the intellectual, artistic, and cultural life of Carroll College. Through his teaching, mentorship, musicianship, and deep commitment to his students, Joe inspired generations of Saints to pursue excellence, embrace creativity, and live lives of purpose.

Today, Carroll is proud to honor his legacy through the establishment of the Joseph W. Munzenrider Endowed Scholarship, a permanent fund that will support deserving Carroll students for generations to come.

Established through the generosity of Joe’s sister, Claire Munzenrider, and longtime friend and Carroll colleague, Father Michael Driscoll, the scholarship will support students who demonstrate intellectual curiosity, personal growth, service to others, and a desire to make a meaningful difference in their communities.

Joe’s passion for learning, the arts, faith, and the transformative power of education will continue to live on through the students who carry his legacy forward. 💜

For Theodore “Ted” Olenick ’17, Carroll was more than a place to earn a degree. It was a community that challenged him academically, strengthened his faith, and helped shape the physician and leader he is today. 😇

After graduating from Carroll with a degree in Biology and a minor in History, Ted went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine. Today, he is completing his Pediatric residency through Wright State University and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as a member of the United States Air Force. Soon, he and his family will begin their next chapter in Idaho, where he will serve as the base pediatrician at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

Along the way, Ted earned the Dean’s Award for excellence in academics and leadership at his medical school graduation, an accomplishment he credits in part to the confidence, mentorship and leadership opportunities he experienced at Carroll.

“Carroll has a way of changing you for the better if you let it,” Ted shared.

From professors who went the extra mile to lifelong friendships and a community rooted in faith, Ted says Carroll prepared him not only for his career, but for life.

“What makes Carroll special in these days of constant noise is the peace and community it provides. It not only prepares you academically for your career, but provides a framework of faith and community that shapes the other parts of your life as well.”
