Hofstra University Summer Science Research Program gives high school students opportunities to work alongside Hofstra faculty mentors, develop research skills, and practice communicating their findings. 🔬

Co-directors Dr. Wendy Hom and Dr. Daniel Miller, both from the Department of Chemistry, emphasized that the experience should provide skills students can carry into future classes, careers, and everyday life. 💙

A six-session program developed by Hofstra University researchers helped student-athletes scale back their social media usage and focus more on building interpersonal connections, according to findings featured in the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice.

The article, “Enhancing Student-Athlete Belonging Through an Identity-Focused Intervention,” was co-authored by Dr. Rebecca Bertuccio, associate director of athletics for mental health services; Grace Landrigan, associate director of wellness education; and Brittany Rhoden, Title IX coordinator for student issues and director of student compliance, equity and wellness education.

Three graduates of Hofstra University’s physician assistant program are earning recognition for the skill, leadership, and compassion they bring to patient care.

Daria Szymczyk ’25, Kevin Barile ‘16, and Kristen Decicco ’23 were recently honored by Northwell Health facilities for their contributions to their patients and profession. Their achievements demonstrate the impact Hofstra-trained physician assistants are making across health care.
