While preaching for the Katy Church of Christ in Texas, Kenneth Moore finished his graduate degree and grew in his understanding of Scripture, all from hundreds of miles away.

What made the difference for Kenneth was the people leading him in class. FHU's faculty are scholars, but they are also faithful preachers who understand the weekly rhythm of sermons, Bible classes, and caring for a congregation. They know what ministers carry, and they teach with that in mind.

If you have been thinking about going back to school but can’t imagine leaving the work you’re doing now, Kenneth’s story shows you don’t have to choose. We would love to talk with you about where you are and where you hope to grow.

Go deeper in God’s Word, wherever you serve.

Meet Dr. Donnie DeBord!

Meet Dr. Donnie DeBord 👋

Dr. DeBord is an Assistant Professor in our Graduate School of Theology, and he knows the FHU classroom well. He earned his B.A. in Biblical Studies, M.A. in New Testament, and M.Div. right here at Freed-Hardeman before completing his Th.M. and Ph.D. at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

His research focuses on systematic theology, the doctrine of God, Trinitarian theology, and Christology. He's a frequent presenter at the Evangelical Theological Society, the International Patristics Conference, and the European Association of Biblical Studies, and he has served in full time ministry for more than 20 years.

That mix of scholarship and ministry experience is exactly what makes our graduate theology programs so effective!
