Last week our KCTCS Board of Regents met at Hopkinsville Community College, a special place where I spent 23 years of my career. I enjoyed reconnecting with amazing colleagues and students. Dr. Alissa Young and her team were fantastic hosts!

Dr. Young remains one of my favorite humans in the planet. You really get to know someone when you work together for a couple of decades. I have always admired her approach to life and leadership.

The experience also reminded me how much our 16 KCTCS institutions collaborate, share resources, and support each other as we serve students and our local communities. The student/alumni panel was wonderful and included some graduates I remember during my time there. Together, we're making a difference!

Looking back provides perspective and appreciation. Looking forward generates excitement. I've never been more proud of our team at Henderson Community College! More variety in educational pathways and enrollment options than ever before! Our summer term is underway, and we are enrolling now for fall classes that begin August 17!

Henderson Community College is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to help keep our campus safe, functional, and welcoming for students, employees, and visitors.

In this role, you'll perform a wide range of general maintenance activities, including:
✔ Moving equipment and furniture
✔ Furniture assembly
✔ Light carpentry and drywall installation
✔ Painting and light masonry work
✔ Locksmithing and appliance maintenance
✔ Light welding
✔ Basic pest control

You'll also assist with facility inspections, grounds maintenance, campus events, safety compliance, and troubleshooting maintenance issues.

We're looking for candidates with:
✅ An associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience
✅ 2–4 years of maintenance or facilities operations experience
✅ Strong technical and problem-solving skills
✅ A commitment to safety and teamwork

HCC is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Academic Advisor to join our team and help support student success. This position provides advising and counseling services to students pursuing associate degrees, technical programs, and transfer opportunities through programs like Early College Academy and JumpStart.

We’re looking for someone with strong interpersonal and customer service skills who is passionate about higher education and helping students achieve their goals. Experience working with non-traditional students and an understanding of higher education requirements are highly valued.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field, along with relevant experience. A master’s degree and additional experience are preferred.
