Spun off from the Student Academic Center in Fall 2014 to dedicate more time to writing across the curriculum, the Writing Center provides walk-in consultations with current NSC students trained in writing pedagogy. Get one-to-one support for writing in any class, at any stage in the process. From brainstorming the day you receive an assignment, to making effective choices in expression, to incorp

orating feedback for revisions, you can work with Writing Specialists on strategies to improve your writing. Our writing specialists consists of interdisciplinary NSC students with a variety of majors: Nursing, History, Biology, Business, English, Environmental Science, Mathematics and Psychology. Wether you are looking for a comfortable space to come and free write or need assistance with a writing project, we are the place for you!!

You’re invited to join the Scorpion Silent Reading Society! Our first meeting is Monday, September 8th.

Hosted by the Marydean Martin Writers' Project and the University Library, the Scorpion Silent Reading Society meets in the Marydean Martin Library (2nd floor, Rogers Student Center) on the first Monday of each month from 11 am – 1pm throughout the 2025–2026 academic year, except for the month of January.

What to expect:

Bring your own book or find a new book that we provide for free through Nevada State’s Common Read, One Book Henderson, or the Scorpion Book Swap.

Light refreshments will be served.
