We're excited to announce Peter Merriam '78 and Diana Merriam '78 as the recipients of the 2026 Simon Family Award for Philanthropy in recognition of their extraordinary generosity and enduring commitment to the College.

Both members of the Class of 1978, Peter and Diana have remained loyal supporters of NEC for many years. As the owners of Merriam Vineyards in California's Russian River Valley, they have also welcomed fellow alumni by hosting an NEC alumni event at their vineyard.

Most recently, Peter and Diana made a significant gift in support of the renovation of the New England College Athletic Center, where the Merriam Fitness Center now bears their name. Their generosity has enhanced the student experience and will benefit the NEC community for years to come.

Through their philanthropy and continued engagement, Peter and Diana have made a lasting impact on New England College. The NEC Alumni Council is proud to recognize Peter and Diana with the 2026 Simon Family Award for Philanthropy.

New England College’s Summer Undergraduate Research students recently showcased their work at the Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa, putting their research, skills, and ideas into practice through hands-on learning.

Two NEC Science students were also recognized for their outstanding poster presentations! 👏

Hands-on experiences like these give students the opportunity to learn by doing, share their work, and build real-world research experience. 🔬🧪

From the wrestling mat to the front lines of law enforcement! 🤼‍♀️👮‍♀️

Clover, '28, a Criminal Justice major, came to NEC to play field hockey and pursue her dream of a career in law enforcement. This summer, she put her classroom learning into action through a rewarding internship with the Suffolk County Police Department, gaining hands-on experience in patrol, accident investigations, court proceedings, detective work, and more.

With mentorship from NEC’s Criminal Justice faculty, Clover is building the skills and experience she needs to pursue her goals, and she’s just getting started. 💙
