Marilyn Unruh Flaming has been one of the faces of Hesston College Nursing for all but a few years of the program’s existence, and this year is the last behind her Hesston College desk. The School of Nursing invites graduates and friends of the program to send cards and notes in Marilyn’s honor to Academics Office, Hesston College, PO Box 3000, Hesston, KS 67062. Deadline: May 23. Shhhh. It’s a surprise for Marilyn, who isn’t on Facebook.

After an incredible 47 years of dedicated service, Marilyn Flaming, Academic Assistant for the School of Nursing, will be retiring after June 30th.

Marilyn has been an integral part of the college and nursing program, known not only for her deep commitment and tireless work ethic but also for her exceptional skills in writing and organizing materials that have helped keep our program running smoothly. Her behind-the-scenes contributions have made a lasting impact on generations of students and faculty.

Marilyn's steady presence, expertise, and unwavering support will be deeply missed. Please join us in expressing your heartfelt gratitude and best wishes as she begins this well-earned new chapter.

Last week we had our traditional Christmas party for the students and had a great time together before heading into finals.
Now, our amazing students are getting ready to head off for Christmas break - it’s so hard to believe the semester is over!

The HC Nursing Club recently held a fundraiser and were able to purchase 66 Scentsy Buddies for Wesley Children’s Hospital. According to club member Brianna, “We were able to donate a scentsy buddy to every patient in the Pediatric ICU, pediatric sedation and infusion, general pediatrics and the pediatric ER. We were also able to leave several scentsy buddies in the pediatric ER for future admissions, and with the child life team so they can give these to future admissions as well!” Well done, nursing club, for brightening the day of so many children!

It's four weeks into the school year, and we've had a great start! The juniors have been learning some of the fundamentals of nursing in Skills Lab and the seniors started clinicals the first week! Pictures in this post are of juniors - we still need to collect some from seniors.

Her contributions to curriculum design and program accreditation have been stellar. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Jean for her dedication, expertise, and care for students over many years.

News from the Hesston Nursing Club!

We gathered donations around Hesston to create baskets that we then raffled off. We sold enough tickets and met our goal of $1,000 which we delivered to Hesston Public Schools today. This money will go towards the students of USD 460 for overdue lunch accounts, enrollment fees, etc. We would like to thank our donors for helping us give back to the Hesston Community!
