In preparation for the LR Playmakers production “Come From Away” (featuring music based in Irish and Scottish folk music via the Canadian Maritimes), we were excited to invite and learn from Dr. Nancy Schneeloch-Bingham in a masterclass of all things Celtic flute and whistle. Our instrumental students had a chance to learn a little about the history of traditional Irish music, as well as trying their hand at ornamentation in different tunes!

The LR Wind Ensemble is thrilled to join the LR A Ca****la Choir on the international tour this year in a historic milestone for the LR music program! This is a wonderful opportunity to collaborate within the music department, and we are excited to offer the chance to perform and travel abroad to the wind ensemble students as we travel to Central Europe (Prague, Berlin, and Leipzig).

Gifts to the Wind Ensemble Fund help reduce financial barriers and ensure that every student, regardless of financial circumstances, has the opportunity to participate in this extraordinary journey of discovery, growth, and music-making. All funds raised go directly back to students via scholarships! You can learn more about the tour and donating at the link below. Thank you for your support of our students and the arts. Go Bears!

As you may have seen, the Lenoir-Rhyne Wind Symphony page recently changed its name to LRU Bands in order to be more inclusive of the many instrumental performing ensembles at LR. We hope you continue to follow the LRU Bands Facebook and Instagram pages as we lift up and celebrate our Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble, and the many chamber ensembles at LRU. Go Bears!
