It’s been an eventful first week for Kentucky Eta!

Our brothers have been incredibly active on campus, reuniting with one another after a long summer, going to events and meeting new people in campus.

We also hosted many sound body hours at the rec center, a mixer with Theta Phi Alpha, and attended a volleyball mixer hosted by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

We had an amazing first week back, and we’re so excited to move into rush season and everything this semester has to offer!

8/31 - 6-8pm | Cookout @ The SigEp House (19 Clearview Dr)
9/2 - 5-7pm | Volleyball in the Rec Center
9/7 - 6-8pm | Game Night @ The SigEp House (19 Clearview Dr)
9/8 - 5-7pm | Kickball @ Highland Heights Civic Center
9/9 | Invite Night (Location and Time TBD)

Our brotherhood is focused on creating a safe environment for all brothers and attendees of events. Therefore, our Fraternity has no hazing and no pledging process. Upon joining Sigma Phi Epsilon, you are a full brother and gain the same benefits and responsibilities as any other brother of SigEp.

Over the past few months, our brother Benjamin Richards has been studying abroad!

Benjamin has been working with the Uaso Ngiro Baboon Project. The project focuses on baboon research and conservation in Kenya. Along with this, the project has been working with local communities to develop sustainable practices. Benjamin has been focusing on the male baboons in the troop and their behavior. We are proud of all his hard work over the summer!

Sound body is one half of SigEp’s philosophy of Building Balanced Men. SigEp brothers are expected to pursue superior health and wellness through exercise, sports, and positive habits. Our brothers work to uplift the achievements and journeys of one another as we make more of ourselves.

Last week, our brother Evan Gates was chosen to be one of the 18 undergraduate brothers to attend Tragos Quest to Greece. During his trip, Evan explored Greece, learned the history of fraternity life, dive into Greek philosophy, arts, and uncover the true meanings of SigEp’s values, including the root of the Balanced Man.

“Tragos taught me the wisdom and value behind our Greek letters. While I’ve always know being a fraternity man is a unique experience, to study the pursuit of centered excellence up close in Greece has renewed my enthusiasm for self-development and brotherhood. Becoming a balanced man is a never-ending journey that rewards me at every stage. I am so grateful to represent NKU on a national scale for SigEp and look forward to seeing more Kentucky Eta brothers embark on the Quest in the future.”

We are all so proud of Evan for being able to attend Tragos Quest to Greece. Not only is 18 brothers from across the country chosen every year, but Evan is the first brother from the Kentucky Eta chapter to be accepted to the program. We would like to thank Sigma Phi Epsilon (Official) for allowing one of our brothers to attend Tragos Quest to Greece, and we are excited to hear about his travels and the wisdom he gained from this trip!

Last week, our brother Lorenzo Afable attended SigEp’s Ruck Leadership Institute. At Ruck, Lorenzo was able to learn about what it means to be a great leader, for both his chapter, and later in life. Attending Ruck is an amazing achievement, and we are so proud of Lorenzo for being able to attend such an amazing event!

“The Ruck Leadership Institute was the most meaningful 5 days of my fraternity experience. Being put in an environment where I could learn with my brothers from across the country at the university this brotherhood was founded in is an honor and a privilege to say the least. I’m extremely grateful for my brothers in the Kentucky Eta chapter, the 158 scholars I shared this unforgettable week with, and my incredible facilitators: Roy Sye, Benny Nahrstadt, and former SigEp Grand President, Brad Nahrstadt. Go Team Yellow!”

Our brothers have been busy this summer! We have explored across the country, tabled at NKU’s orientation days to introduce ourselves to the incoming freshmen, and started our process of moving into our new Designated SLC Space.

Plus a few of our brothers have attended amazing nationals events that you will see very soon 😉

In SigEp we are not brothers for months or years. We are brothers for life. SigEp allows you to connect with people you might never have met in your college years, and those people could not only be your brothers, but your best friends for life.
