NKU SOTA Theatre & Dance NKU's School of the Arts Theatre & Dance Program relies on intensive student involvement both inside and outside the classroom.

Our staff, resources, and facilities serve the developing artist. At the program’s center is a vital balance of process and production giving each student opportunities to stretch boundaries and discover new possibilities.

Introducing guest choreographer Countess V. Winfrey!

Countess V. Winfrey, hailing from
Nashville, TN, currently serves
as a performer, teaching artist,
choreographer, and rehearsal
director for Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.
She has performed nationally and internationally
in Bermuda, China, Kazakhstan, and Russia
and has performed works by many acclaimed
choreographers including Ulysses Dove, Talley
Beatty, Rennie Harris, Paul Taylor and many
more. Some of her most notable performances
include performing at the world-renowned Bolshoi
Theater in Moscow, Russia (2018), performing
the masterwork “Rainbow ‘Round My Shoulder”
at Lincoln Center (2019) and one of her longest
standing roles has been gracing the stage as the
lead in DCDC’s holiday classic, “The Littlest Angel”
(2016-25). Ms. Winfrey has had the privilege
of choreographing several works on DCDC, as
well as other regional companies including Oyo
Dance Company (Columbus, OH), Mutual Dance Theater (Cincinnati, OH), and a site-specific work
at the Cincinnati Art Museum (2022). She has
taught at various institutions in the Midwest
region including The Ohio State University, Miami
University, The School for Creative and Performing
Arts in Cincinnati, and Ohio University. Ms. Winfrey
is currently in her 11th season dancing with the
professional company and her 13th year with the
organization.
