For this week's Hillsdale History Friday, Homecoming Weekend 2026 is now history, and this year the Athletic Department unveiled a new Hall of Fame hallway display that debuted over the weekend. Hillsdale College welcomed a new class of inductees during the Hall of Fame Banquet on October 9, and they were added to the elite list of Charger greats. Make sure that if you are on campus, you check out the display on the main floor of the Sports Complex.

Born and raised in Cleveland, Jennifer Lobaugh Lutz, '98, was set to attend another liberal arts college, but learning about Hillsdale and then making a quick visit to campus sealed the deal for her. For this week's Hillsdale History post, we look at the history of the Athletic Hall of Fame. The first induction class was in 1997 and featured some of Hillsdale's legendary athletes and coaches. Athletic Director Jack McAvoy, NFL great Howard Mudd, and national champion runner Gina Van Laar Lanser were all part of that first class. Hillsdale welcomes the newest class of inductees during the Hall of Fame Banquet TONIGHT!
