Last week during Adult Rehab Practice Seminar with Dr. Victor Michael Camacho, 2nd year MSOT students had the opportunity to conduct an occupational profile, as well as evaluate, design, and implement a client-centered intervention plan on a real-life case study. Jack underwent bilateral below the knee amputations in 2014 and re-enacted his early days in acute care after limb loss. His presence allowed students to practice skills such as monitoring vitals, assessing active range of motion (AROM), passive range of motion (PROM), strength, and assess basic ADL and functional mobility skills. In addition, students observed figure 8 ace wrapping and observed Jack don his prosthetics.
Jack's final inspiring words to the students were "You gave me more OT than I got back then because it was 0"
Thank you Jack for a great learning experience!
