Brown University Campus Visit! 🤎❤️

Our HECA group visited Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, located on College Hill overlooking downtown Providence. With approximately 7,200 undergraduates, Brown combines the feel of a smaller New England city with access to Rhode Island’s beaches and larger cities throughout the Northeast.

Brown’s defining academic feature is its Open Curriculum, which gives students significant freedom to shape their own education without traditional core or distribution requirements. Students choose from more than 80 concentrations and can use a shopping period at the beginning of each semester to explore classes before finalizing their schedules.

The undergraduate experience remains highly personal, with nearly 70% of classes enrolling fewer than 20 students and a 6:1 student-to-faculty ratio. Students also receive extensive academic advising while having the flexibility to explore interests across disciplines.

Campus life is closely connected to the surrounding city, giving students access to Providence while maintaining a strong campus community. Brown’s academic environment places a major emphasis on curiosity, exploration, and student independence.

With its Open Curriculum, small classes, extensive academic options, and location in the heart of Providence, Brown offers a distinctive experience for self-directed students ready to take ownership of their academic path.

University of Connecticut Campus Visit!💙🤍

The seventh stop on our New England tour was UConn in Storrs, Connecticut!

Located in rural northeastern Connecticut, UConn has a walkable campus with strong connections to agriculture and equine sciences. Academically, students have the flexibility to explore and switch majors through junior year, with standout programs in pharmacy, nursing, engineering, and allied health.

UConn’s six-year 2+4 pharmacy pathway offers a structured route into the field, while nursing is a competitive direct-admit program and engineering is backed by a strong research-focused faculty.

Outside the classroom, UConn has plenty of school spirit and tradition. Greek life includes about 12% of students, women’s athletics are a major point of pride, and traditions range from Spring Weekend to the One Ton Sundae—a boat filled with ice cream! 🍦

A great stop for students looking for academic flexibility, strong health science opportunities, and a spirited campus community! 🐾

Providence College Campus Visit! 🖤🤍
Our HECA group visited Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, a Dominican Catholic institution with just under 4,600 undergraduates across four schools. The campus offers a close-knit, community-oriented environment while still giving students access to the city of Providence.
One of Providence’s most distinctive academic features is its Development of Western Civilization program, known as “Civ.” All students complete this four-semester interdisciplinary sequence during their first two years, exploring history, literature, philosophy, theology, art, and other ideas while strengthening their writing and critical-thinking skills.
Business enrolls about 40% of the student body and emphasizes an ethics-based approach to education. Providence also offers a direct-admit School of Nursing and Health Sciences, supported by a new nursing building with hands-on clinical simulation spaces.
Student life includes Division I athletics, campus organizations, faith, and a strong residential community. Students are required to live on campus for three years, and Dominican friars even live in some of the residence halls.
With a shared academic foundation, strong professional programs, and a distinctly community-focused campus experience, Providence offers students a structured and engaging college environment.
