During National Pride Month, June 1-30, we observe and pay homage to the significance of LGBTQ+ history, rights, and culture. The groundwork for PRIDE was laid by three dynamic activist women––Storme' DeLaverie, Marsha P. Johnson, and Sylvia Rivera––in response to the Stonewall Riots that occurred in New York in June 1969. At Hiram we celebrate this rich history of past leadership and the generations of campus leaders who remain committed to further advancing diversity, equity, and belonging for all members of the community. Happy Pride!
