🟣 New Publication from CTOR Academy Faculty

Our latest research has been published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine.

Using an animal model, CTOR researchers investigated how deficient growth of the upper jaw may influence the development of the nasal cavity. The findings demonstrate that maxillary constriction can alter the position of the nasal floor and contribute to nasal septum deviation, providing new insight into the biological relationship between craniofacial development and airway health.

🎥 Want to learn more? Dr. Mani Alikhani discusses the study, its findings, and their clinical implications in the latest episode of our Biology of Orthodontics series on the CTOR YouTube channel.

🟣 New Biology of Orthodontics video now available!

Can the way the jaws develop influence the shape of the nose?

In the latest episode of our Biology of Orthodontics series, Dr. Mani Alikhani presents groundbreaking CTOR research demonstrating that the mouth and nose develop as part of the same biological system.

Based on CTOR's latest animal study, the research shows how deficient growth of the upper jaw may influence the development of the nasal cavity and contribute to nasal septum deviation—one of the leading causes of nasal obstruction and mouth breathing.

These findings reinforce the importance of early diagnosis and Interceptive Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics to help guide healthy facial growth and support optimal oral function and airway health.

🟣 CTOR Academy at GORP 2026!

Last week, our residents and faculty had the opportunity to attend the Graduate Orthodontic Residents Program (GORP®) 2026 at the University of Michigan, a long-standing educational event that brings together orthodontic residents from programs across the United States and Canada.

From outstanding lectures and discussions to reconnecting with colleagues and building new professional relationships, GORP continues to be a valuable experience for the next generation of orthodontists.

Thank you to the University of Michigan, the AAO, and everyone involved in making another successful GORP possible!

🟣 New Publication from CTOR Academy Faculty

We're proud to share that our latest clinical case report has been published in the 2026 Fall issue of the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists (MASO) Journal.

The article explores the non-surgical correction of a severe adult skeletal open bite with maxillary constriction using maxillary expansion and the CTOR Intrusion Plate. It discusses the biological and biomechanical considerations behind treating these complex cases and presents an alternative approach for carefully selected patients seeking to avoid orthognathic surgery.

Congratulations to our authors:
• Dr. Fanar Abdullah
• Dr. Shamelly Diaz
• Dr. Jeanne Nervina
• Dr. Cristina C. Teixeira
• Dr. Mani Alikhani
