Meet Emlin Munch'24
If you’re a fan of the arts at Hope, chances are you’ve seen Emlin perform.
As a senior vocal performance major, she keeps busy with recitals and performances in the Musical Showcase and Concerto Aria Competition. She’s even studying piano, another one of her passions.
“I have a deep passion for music and have since I was young. I have been involved in music since a young age in different capacities and then studied voice privately, which led me to continue my passion in college,” she explains.
She credits her professors and classmates with a rewarding learning environment. “I love the relationships I have formed with both other students and faculty,” she says. “In taking private lessons for two instruments, I have been able to form really close relationships with my professors and collaborators.”
Emlin is also pursuing a BA in Global French studies. She will be traveling to France this fall to fulfill her French credit requirements.
One of her favorite memories during her time at Hope was when she appeared in an Opera Grand Rapids production of Aida in 2023.
She’s excited for the future because of all the opportunities her education at Hope has provided and plans to go on to graduate school. One can only hope we’ll get to hear her perform in West Michigan again.

Meet Anna Triezenberg'24, Dr. David Keep, and the Steinway Spirio Piano
On this DAY OF GIVING we are fundraising to purchase a Steinway Spirio Piano. At 11:00AM we will be livestreaming a demonstration of this piano.
In the meantime, meet senior Anna Triezenberg to learn about her summer research with Dr. Keep and learn a little about the Spirio piano!
West Michigan Piano will bring one of their cutting-edge Steinway Spirio grand pianos to Hope College. First, Jeff Hall will introduce us to the piano's capabilities. Next, we'll see how teaching is enhanced using one of these top-level player pianos, as Dr. David Keep works with student Kellen Woolhiser. Finally both Dr. Keep and Dr. Matt De Jongh (computer science) will discuss applications for research made possible by the Spirio. All are welcome to come see and hear this amazing new instrument, which will undoubtedly change how piano is taught at the college level.
Your contributions will help us achieve the dream of bringing this piano to our department. Help support our cause here: donate.hope.edu/music
