We are looking forward to the very first collaboration of SPERA and VERITAS on stage at the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts Concert Hall! The concert will consist of a variety of musical selections presented by both ensembles - ranging from Gregorian chant to folks songs from various traditions, including composers such as Billy Joel, Josef Rheinberger, and Bedrich Smetana. The concert will conclude with both ensembles coming together to perform Baba Yetu, a setting of the Lord’s Prayer in Swahili. Join us on Saturday, March 29th at 3pm!

Songs of Rust, Rest, and Renewal: The Hope College Concert Band invites you to experience an evening of music that reflects a journey of faith as it endures the “fiercest droughts and storms” of our fallen world.

From the rolling heights of the Appalachian Mountains to the smoke scoured plains of the Civil War, themes of collapse, restoration and redemption will run through our repertoire.

We are thrilled to partner with two special guests for this event. Joshua Linde (banjo) brings the worlds of wind bands and bluegrass together in a thrilling manner while Dr. Fred Johnson III (Narrator and Professor of History at Hope College) enriches the meaning of our music through the power of Abraham Lincoln’s speeches.
