Tactical operators don't get to wait for perfect conditions.

They make decisions when information is incomplete, pressure is high, time is short, and the consequences are real.

That is exactly why resilience alone is no longer enough.

On September 1 and 2, Dr. Mitch Javidi and Justin King led two sessions of Elastic Leadership for Tactical Operators at the National Tactical Officers Association Annual Law Enforcement Operations Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

More than 150 law enforcement professionals working in high-stakes tactical environments joined them for a different conversation about performance under pressure.

Not simply, How do we endure more?

But:

How do we expand our capacity to think, adapt, decide, and lead when the environment changes around us?

Through MAGNUS strategies, participants explored ways to increase their capacity to make critical decisions with greater clarity during critical incidents, when stress is high and the margin for error is small.

These are elite operators already trained to perform when it matters most.
Elastic Leadership challenges them to go further.

Resilience helps us recover.

Elasticity helps us adapt while the pressure is still on.

We are proud of Dr. Mitch Javidi and Justin King for bringing this work to the NTOA community, and grateful to the more than 150 professionals who invested their time in becoming even more prepared for the moments when their people and communities need them most.

This is where leadership meets readiness.

What happens when you bring leadership development directly to your agency?
In Las Cruces, New Mexico, nearly 45 law enforcement leaders came together across two MAGNUS Leadership Workshops, hosted in partnership with the Las Cruces Police Department.

Leaders from Las Cruces PD and surrounding New Mexico agencies didn’t have to travel across the country for meaningful leadership development. The training came to them.
MAGNUS Leadership Instructor Justin King led both workshops, creating an opportunity for leaders from across the region to learn together, challenge how they think, and bring practical leadership tools back to their agencies.

A special thank you to Chief Story and the Las Cruces Police Department staff for opening their doors and making this opportunity available to leaders beyond their own agency.
That is the power of hosting a MAGNUS Leadership Workshop.

You develop your people while creating an opportunity for agencies across your region to develop theirs.

Your agency could be the next host.

Bring MAGNUS Leadership to your department and turn your agency into a regional destination for leadership development.

Command staff leadership is where experience becomes influence.

The National Command & Staff College Command & Staff Leadership Program is built for public safety leaders who are ready to think beyond the next shift, the next call, or the next crisis.

Across 320 hours of advanced leadership development, participants combine online learning with an in-person residency, bringing strategy, decision-making, culture, and real-world leadership together.
This is more than a course.

It is a chance to strengthen the kind of leadership that shapes culture, guides teams, and prepares agencies for what comes next.

Right now, there are four opportunities forming across the country:

• Session #37 | Orange Beach, Alabama
• Session #38 | Sanford, Florida
• Session #39 | East Baton Rouge, Louisiana
• Session #40 | Pueblo, Colorado

Participants may also earn 6 hours of graduate-level college transfer credit through ACE.
Leadership at this level is not about having all the answers.

It is about being prepared to make the decisions that shape people, agencies, and communities long after the moment has passed

Leadership gets real when the room is filled with people who know what it means to carry responsibility.

On August 19, 2026, 50 Laws of RUSTIC Leadership came to Greensburg, Indiana, in partnership with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office.

Thirty public safety leaders from across Indiana came together to dig into leadership shaped by experience, pressure, adversity, and the lessons that only come from doing the work.

This was not leadership theory from a distance.

It was a room full of leaders willing to reflect, challenge assumptions, share experience, and sharpen how they lead the people counting on them every day.

A special thank you to Sheriff William B. Meyerrose and Deputy Michael Eggleston for helping make this training possible.

Justin King was also joined by Indiana Sheriffs’ Association Executive Director Steve Luce, bringing another powerful perspective to the conversation.

Thirty leaders walked into the room.

The real impact is what they carry back to their agencies, their teams, and the communities they serve.

Rust is inevitable. Staying stuck in it is not.
