There is something sacred when the ʻohana gathers in one accord. 🙌🏼✨
Today at Chapel, we were blessed to worship together as students and faculty, lifting our voices to the Lord. We are so grateful to the Kiko’s for sharing their hearts and Word with us today.
To close our time, we partook in communion in a beautiful, culturally rooted way, using kalo (taro) to represent the Bread of Life and wai niu (coconut water) to represent the Water of Life. A powerful reminder that Christ meets us right where we are, weaving together faith and culture. 🥥🍞
One beautiful thing that Jerrard encouraged everyone was to close their eyes as he pounded the kalo against the pāpā, a wooden board used to make paʻi ʻai or freshly pounded kalo; symbolizing Christ being beaten for our sins and crucified on the Cross. 😮💨
