We’re proud to congratulate Shidler alumnus Mano Nguyen, EMBA ’17, on founding his new consulting firm, Cap X Consulting LLC.

A U.S. Navy veteran and longtime property management leader, Mano brings more than 20 years of experience serving communities across Oʻahu. His career has included leadership roles at prominent Honolulu properties, including the Ilikai Hotel and Kapiolani Residence, as well as founding NK Management, which he grew before selling the company in January 2025.

Today, Mano also serves as general manager of Mauna Luan AOAO in Hawaiʻi Kai while continuing to share his experience by mentoring property managers across Hawaiʻi.

Outside of work, he is active in his community as a youth volleyball coach, member of Church of the Crossroads and father of two.

Congratulations, Mano, on this exciting new chapter and continued commitment to leadership, mentorship and service in Hawaiʻi!

Congratulations to AJ Hoffman, MHRM ’21, on his new role as Senior Director of Human Resources at Hawaiian Host Group!

AJ brings HR leadership experience from Y. Hata & Co. and Hawaiʻi Gas, with a career spanning grocery retail, food distribution, utilities and now consumer packaged goods. In his new role, he helps lead people strategy, organizational development, employee relations, workforce planning and other key HR functions as Hawaiian Host Group continues to grow.

One of the things AJ enjoys most about his career is the variety of industries and people he has had the opportunity to work with. He also previously lived in Japan and picked up conversational Japanese, a skill that may come in handy with Hawaiian Host Group’s ties to the Japan market.

AJ is a SHRM Certified Professional and currently serves as president-elect of SHRM Hawaiʻi. He credits his Shidler experience, completed during the COVID-19 pandemic, with strengthening his adaptability and appreciation for strong professional relationships.

Congratulations, AJ, on this exciting next chapter!

We are proud to recognize Shidler College alumni Ross Murakami, BBA ’87, and Dayle Murakami, BBA ’89, for establishing a Direct Admit Program Scholarship supporting students from ʻAiea, Waiākea and Konawaena high schools.
