🌋 Fieldwork, but with a view!
The Michigan Tech Department of Geological & Mining Engineering & Sciences team spent part of the summer in Iceland’s remote Westfjords, collecting samples for NSF-funded paleomagnetic research while getting a firsthand look at some spectacular geology (and goats!) along the way.
Rugged hikes, lava flows, long days in the field, and yes, plenty of Atlantic puffins. 🐧
