Hear from Spring 2026 new member Elizabeth Biyashev about why she went 🦄✨

“Before I came to Michigan Tech, my friend from high school convinced me to sign up for recruitment. I thought it would be something exciting, and I was interested in seeing what greek life was about at Tech. I remember looking into each sorority on Michigan Tech’s website before I came up to school. DPhiE stood out to me immediately because of their motto “Esse Quam Videri” meaning “to be, rather than to seem to be”. I hold our motto close to heart and love how each sister is authentically herself. Plus, I thought a unicorn mascot was the coolest thing ever! Once I started my first semester I decided to go on a retreat that overlapped with recruitment weekend. Although I didn’t end up joining a sorority in the fall, I still got to meet a lot of wonderful people through my classes. A lot of those girls even ended up being deephers without me knowing! Once the spring semester came around, I went through the recruitment process and found my home in Delta Phi Epsilon. Joining greek life gave me life long friends, and the best big sister I could have ever asked for!

YITS,
Elizabeth #531”
