Summer is in full swing at HCC Northeast, and the college kicked off the season with two engaging camps for middle and high school students.

June began with a Drone Summer Camp led by the Fire Technology program under the Public Safety Center of Excellence. Eleven middle school students learned how to safely operate drones and explored how the technology is used in disaster response and crime scene investigations. Campers first practiced maneuvering drones indoors before testing their skills outside.

The campus also hosted an AI Summer Camp, bringing together middle and high school students for hands-on learning in emerging technologies. Participants explored virtual reality (VR) headsets, artificial intelligence tools and coding while working on a collaborative project using these platforms. The STEM-focused camp encouraged curiosity, creativity and an exploration of future possibilities in technology.
