School of Automotive Machinists & Technology SAM Tech is an accredited career college with Block, Head, & CNC Machining, EFI Tuning, and an Assoc We teach our students Block, Head, and CNC Machining.

SAM Tech is an accredited career college located in Houston, Texas. Our doors opened in 1985 and we have been building winning race engines ever since. We also offer an EFI Tuning Program. In 2011 SAM was approved for our Associate Degree program. We have two race teams that are staffed by our students who learn what it takes to be a part of a championship caliber professional team. Our graduates are hired by the best in the performance racing industry.

SAM Tech’s EFI Calibration students are putting the school’s ’57 Chevy to work on the chassis dyno, learning how to nitrous tune with a Nitrous Outlet twin plate kit for increased horsepower and performance.

From fuel delivery and ignition timing to nitrous calibration, students gain hands-on experience with the technology and techniques used throughout the high-performance automotive industry.

Last week we were visited by our friends from HP Tuners.

Josh and Ryan are both SAM Tech Graduates and work for HP Tuners on the new Core ECU. The guys talked to all the students before having break out sessions just for the EFI classes. Josh brought the Core Camaro down so the students and faculty could get a hands on with the new hardware and software. The students were able to work on tunes and had the car on our chassis dyno for a day of testing.

We appreciate Josh, Ryan, and HP Tuners time and giving back to the SAM Tech students.

SAM Tech’s connection to NASA goes back more than a decade, and last week, students got another look at where advanced manufacturing skills can take them.

Brian Carter of Amentum, who supports NASA through the JETS II contract in PGS Spacesuit Technology, visited SAM Tech to speak with students about careers with Amentum and NASA and the opportunities available to skilled machinists and technicians in the space industry.

For more than 10 years, SAM Tech has worked with NASA, helping manufacture components used in testing for the Orion and Artemis programs.

That connection makes conversations like Brian’s especially meaningful. The same machining and manufacturing skills students develop at SAM Tech can play a role in everything from high-performance engines to hardware supporting the next generation of human spaceflight.

A big thank you to Brian for spending time with the students, sharing his experience, and showing them just how far their skills can take them.
