Juneteenth 2026 was more than a celebration—it was a moment to reflect on the past, give thanks for the present, and renew our commitment to freedom, justice, and community. Gathering at Emancipation Park served as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people come together with purpose.
The Houston Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is proud to highlight Past President Jacqueline W. Bostic, whose legacy of service and dedication to the Houston community was honored with the unveiling of the Jacqueline W. Bostic Stage at Emancipation Park. Her impact on the preservation and advancement of this historic landmark has helped ensure that Emancipation Park remains a vibrant space for education, reflection, and community engagement for generations to come.
This year carried special meaning for the Bostic family. The stage dedication was a full-circle moment rooted in generations of service. Jacqueline W. Bostic’s great-great-grandfather, Jack Yates, helped lead the original efforts to purchase the park. Decades later, she carried that legacy forward through her unwavering commitment to preserving the park’s history, maintaining its grounds, and championing its continued growth and relevance within the community.
Today, her dedication is forever memorialized in a space that stands as a symbol of freedom, resilience, and the power of community stewardship.
