Proud moment for the Institute of Biosciences and Technology at Texas A&M University Health!

A new feature article in Drug Discovery Today (May 2026) showcases Texas’s groundbreaking multi-institutional model for academic drug discovery: “A statewide multi-institutional model that de-risks academic drug discovery.”

Led by Suzanne Tomlinson-Mathis and the IDDD Core Network, the article highlights the collaborative power of cores across Texas — including three key contributors from IBT: Peter Davies, Clifford Stephan, and Margie Moczygemba.

This network has supported more than 750 projects, launched 60+ startups, advanced 15 programs into the clinic, and attracted nearly $1 billion in follow-on funding.

Texas A&M Institute of Biosciences and Technology is proud to announce that Dr. Jiang Chang has been selected as the 2025 Thomas Smith Memorial Lecturer by the American Heart Association. This lecture was established in 1997 by the Council on Basic Science to honor Dr. Thomas W. Smith, a pioneer in the application of biochemical, cellular, and molecular approaches to investigative cardiac contractility.
