As brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., we remain committed to the principles of scholarship, leadership, service, and advocacy that have defined our Brotherhood since 1906.

We honor the men whose impact extends far beyond a single day.

We celebrate the fathers who show up when no one is watching. The fathers who sacrifice, provide, protect, teach, encourage, and love. The fathers who carry burdens in silence so their families can stand in strength.

We also recognize the father figures, mentors, coaches, uncles, grandfathers, and community leaders who have stepped into the gap and changed lives through their example.

Every lesson taught.
Every sacrifice made.
Every door opened.
Every dream encouraged.

Those moments become legacies.

The brothers of Sigma Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. pause to honor the legacy of freedom, celebrate the richness of Black culture, and reflect on the responsibility we share to continue building stronger communities through service, scholarship, leadership, and advocacy.

As we commemorate June 19, 1865, we remember that freedom is not merely a moment—it is a journey. A journey fueled by courage, sustained by unity, and advanced by those willing to stand on the shoulders of those who came before us while creating opportunities for those yet to come.
