"How do I practice my future in Marshall's College of Arts and Media?" πŸ€”

Meet Spring 2026 graduate Jayce Townsend, a former Music Composition and Theory student of CAM who is now taking his education to the next level at Indiana University within the Jacobs School of Music. 🎼

During his time here in undergraduate, Jayce not only produced musical pieces that were performed by the West Virginia Youth Symphony in EUROPE, but he also composed works that were performed by Marshall's own studios.

He earned not one, not two, but THREE scholarships to support his education and future career as a musician and composer. He also managed to be Principal Trombone in Marshall's Wind Symphony for five semesters (plus one as Principal Euphonium), Orchestra for three semesters, and Jazz 1 Ensemble for one semester.

Oh, and he served as a Marshall University Student Ambassador too. No big deal, right?

We're so proud of Jayce and all that he accomplished in the Marshall University School of Music and we know that he is on his way to filling the world with more of his music. He practiced his future at Marshall, and now he'll forever be part of our CAMmunity alumni!

If you have an update on a former graduate that you would like to highlight (it can be yourself!) we'd love to hear from you. Shoot us a message and let us know what our CAMmunity is up to nowadays!
