Please join us in congratulating Jeb Dickerson, Director of Apprenticeships & Work Based Learning at Mountwest, who has been selected as a 2026 Emerging Leader in Skilled Trades by the Lowe's Foundation.

This national recognition celebrates leaders who are helping shape the future of the skilled trades through education, workforce development, and industry engagement.

Through his work at Mountwest, Jeb has played an important role in preparing students for careers by expanding access to training opportunities, fostering industry partnerships, and supporting workforce needs throughout our region.

"I am incredibly honored and humbled to be selected as a recipient of the Lowe’s Foundation 2026 Emerging Leader in the Skilled Trades Award. This recognition is not just a reflection of my work, but of the incredible team, students, industry partners, and community members who have supported and believed in the mission of expanding access to skilled trades education.

At Mountwest, we have worked to create pathways that remove barriers and connect individuals with life-changing opportunities in apprenticeships and the skilled trades. Seeing students gain confidence, earn certifications, and begin meaningful careers has been the greatest reward of all.

I am deeply grateful to the Lowe’s Foundation for recognizing the importance of this work and for their continued investment in the future of the skilled trades. I accept this award on behalf of everyone who has helped build these programs, from our faculty and staff to our labor union partners, community organizations, and most importantly, our students. This is our achievement, and I look forward to continuing the work of strengthening the skilled trades workforce and changing lives through education and opportunity."

"As a 55-year-old widow, a full-time student, and a first-generation college student, this support has had a profound impact on my life and my education."

After losing her husband of 29 years to COVID and later losing her job of 19 years, Charlotte made the life-changing decision to return to college and pursue a degree in Information Technology. After being out of high school for 35 years, the path was not always easy, but she persevered.

"Being the first in my family to attend college is both an honor and a challenge. I had been out of high school for 35 years, and pursuing a degree in Information Technology, so different from the world I knew back then, has been intimidating at times. There have been many obstacles along the way, but also moments of growth, resilience, and determination. Being the first in my family to attend college is both an honor and a challenge.”

Thanks to scholarship support from generous donors, Charlotte was able to continue her education without the overwhelming burden of financial stress. This spring, she graduated, proving it is never too late to begin again.

We are celebrating an incredible milestone. 100% of December graduates passed both the NBRC Therapist Multiple-Choice Examination and the Clinical Simulation Examination, earning both CRT and RRT credentials. This achievement reflects the dedication of students, faculty, and the strength of the program. The future of respiratory care is in great hands. 🩺
