SHSU Alpha Gamma Rho - Gamma Epsilon

SHSU Alpha Gamma Rho is the Agriculture Fraternity at Sam Houston State University and is open to guys pursuing any career related to the agriculture industry.

Alpha Gamma Rho isn't like other fraternities. In AGR you'll get the opportunity to experience both a social and a professional fraternity. AGR does what you expect a social fraternity to do: socialize with other students on campus and people in the community. AGR is also like other social fraternities in that it has a strong group of members. But AGR is more than just one of those strictly social

fraternities; it is also a professional fraternity. All members of AGR have related career interests. AGR is for young men pursuing any career related to the agriculture, food or fiber industries. One more difference: at AGR there's no pledging. You join as an equal member. AGR does a careful review of all potential members in advance, so there's no need for a "weeding out" process.

Happy 22nd Birthday to Brother Davis Ochoa!

Davis is a Business Management major with plans to pursue a career in the automotive industry after graduation. Since being initiated in Fall 2025, he has continued to make a positive impact on our chapter and currently serves as our VNR of Membership Development. In this role, Davis plays a major part in guiding our new members and ensuring they are thoroughly educated on the history, values, traditions, and expectations of Alpha Gamma Rho.

We are grateful for the time, effort, and hard work Davis puts into strengthening our new member program and helping prepare the next generation of Gamma Epsilon brothers. Please join us in wishing Brother Davis a very happy 22nd birthday!

The Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho was proud to welcome the newest Bearkats home by volunteering during both days of New Student Move-In. Our brothers helped students and their families unload vehicles, carry boxes, and settle into their new homes at Sam Houston State University.

We are grateful for every opportunity to serve the Bearkat community and begin the semester by lending a hand. Welcome home, Bearkats. We’re glad you’re here.

Today we’re excited to launch the Gamma Epsilon Chapter Growth Fund.

As many of you know, Gamma Epsilon is still a young chapter. A lot of our alumni are just beginning their careers and building their own lives, so we wanted to create a fundraiser that not only supports our chapter but also gives something meaningful back to those who choose to invest in us.

Every donation helps us improve recruitment, repair and upgrade our BBQ pit, purchase a 10x10 recruitment tent, strengthen our campus presence, and continue building an experience that alumni, current and future brothers can be proud of.

To show our appreciation, we’ve created four donor levels with chapter exclusive recognition and gifts as a small thank you for your support.

Brother Spotlight | Kaleb Yount

Meet Brother Kaleb Yount, one of Gamma Epsilon’s newest initiates from Spring 2026. Kaleb is a Construction Management major at Sam Houston State University and a member of the SHSU Powerlifting Team.

Kaleb has already made a name for himself on the platform, placing 4th in the nation and preparing to represent Sam Houston again this year. His best lifts include an impressive 705 lb squat and 501 lb bench press.

Since joining Alpha Gamma Rho, Kaleb has been looking for ways to become more involved and help Gamma Epsilon continue to grow. He hopes to help bring more events and opportunities to the chapter while taking on a bigger role within the brotherhood.

After graduation, Kaleb plans to work for a general contractor as a job site superintendent, building a career in the construction industry.

We’re proud to have Brother Yount in Gamma Epsilon and look forward to seeing what he accomplishes both in AGR and on the platform.

Brother Spotlight: Owen Gray 🚜

Brother Owen Gray, an Agricultural Engineering major, was initiated into Alpha Gamma Rho in Fall 2025 and currently serves as our VNR of Alumni Relations. In addition to his leadership within the chapter, Owen proudly serves as a Gibbs Ranch Farm Boy, carrying on one of Sam Houston State University’s longest-standing agricultural traditions.

For generations, the Gibbs Ranch Farm Boys have played an essential role in the university’s agricultural program, gaining hands-on experience while helping operate a premier teaching and production ranch.

As a Farm Boy, Owen assists with embryo transfer programs in the Brangus and Angus industries, helps produce Brangus, Angus, and Red Brangus bulls for herd production, raises commercial steers for meat production, develops show cattle for SHSU’s collegiate teams, contributes to range and wildlife management, and supports area and state LDE and CDE competitions. Through these experiences, he continues to build the knowledge and skills that define the next generation of agricultural leaders.

We are proud to recognize Brother Owen Gray for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to both Alpha Gamma Rho and Sam Houston State University.

👮‍♂️ Summer Internship Spotlight – Brother Blake Harris

This summer, Brother Blake Harris is serving as an Intern with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in Williamson County, Texas, where he is gaining valuable hands-on experience in law enforcement and public service.

Throughout the past two summers, Blake has worked alongside several divisions within the Sheriff’s Office, with much of his time spent riding with Patrol deputies and learning day-to-day law enforcement operations. He has also trained with the SWAT team, sharpening his marksmanship and observing specialized training, while gaining experience with the Crime Scene Unit through fingerprint processing and investigative techniques.

When asked how this experience will impact his future, Blake shared:

“After graduating from college, I plan to use the experience I’ve gained through this internship to pursue a career in law enforcement by attending a police academy. Over the past two summers, I’ve learned what it takes to serve a community, built lifelong relationships, and gained a better understanding of both the profession and myself.”

Blake’s commitment to leadership extends beyond his internship. During his time in Alpha Gamma Rho, he previously served as the chapter’s Sergeant-at-Arms and currently serves as Vice Noble Ruler of Activities, helping strengthen brotherhood and create meaningful experiences for the Gamma Epsilon Chapter.

Today we’re celebrating Brother Rowdy Casner as he turns 20!

Originally from Thorndale, Texas, Rowdy is an Animal Science major with a Wildlife Management minor. He currently serves as our Tailgate Chair, helping make our chapter events and game day traditions a success. After graduation, Rowdy plans to pursue a career in the wildlife management field, where his passion for conservation and the outdoors will undoubtedly make an impact.

🦌 Summer Internship Spotlight - Brother Briley Runge 🦌

This summer, Brother Briley Runge is gaining hands-on experience in wildlife and ranch management at 50X Ranch in Cameron, Texas.

Throughout the summer, Briley assists with a variety of wildlife management and ranch operations. His responsibilities include capturing and relocating animals throughout the ranch, providing basic veterinary care when needed, completing daily ranch duties such as feeding and monitoring herds, and assisting with wildlife research efforts. He is currently helping tag fawns as they are born, collecting valuable data that contributes to the management and conservation of the ranch’s wildlife populations.

When asked how this experience will impact his future, Briley shared:

“After college, I plan to pursue a career in wildlife consultation. Growing up hunting and fishing, I naturally developed a passion for wildlife and conservation. What I enjoy most about this field is the opportunity to work with both native and exotic species while helping others develop an appreciation for wildlife management, conservation, and the hunting traditions that directly contribute to healthy wildlife populations.”

Briley’s dedication extends beyond the ranch.
During his time in Alpha Gamma Rho, he has served as Noble Ruler (President), VNR of Recruitment, and currently serves as the chapter’s Sergeant-at-Arms, helping strengthen the Gamma Epsilon Chapter and develop future leaders.
