The Powerline Construction and Maintenance program at TCAT Oneida/Huntsville has garnered a reputation as one of the top lineman training programs in the region. As a result, we routinely have students from across Tennessee. In fact, the majority of our PLCM students are from outside Scott County. Among our Summer 2026 graduating cohort, Tatrevion Cross was from the furthest away. He is from Bolivar, Tenn., just east of Memphis. It is a 5.5-hour drive from Bolivar to Oneida.
You have probably seen Tae's face around town. He worked at Walmart in Oneida in the evenings and on weekends while he was enrolled at TCAT and, like many of our PLCM students, secured housing in Oneida for the six months he was here. He has a one-of-a-kind personality that leaves everyone laughing when he's in the room, which was one of the reasons why his classmates elected him to deliver yesterday's commencement address on behalf of the class.
Our PLCM students underscore the importance of the TCAT Oneida/Huntsville Scholarship Fund, which helps remove financial barriers for students who are willing to invest in themselves but may need assistance covering the costs of tools and other educational experiences. Talent and ambition can be found in every corner of Tennessee, and with the support of generous donors, those students can gain the skills needed to build successful careers.
