Dr. Pacino recently visited San Antonio on vacation and went to the city’s historic missions, built in the time of the Spanish empire, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Find out more about missions and the history of Spanish colonization in the New World in her Colonial Latin America class in the fall 😊

Dr. Johnson recently visited Detroit for a joint conference of the Association of Holocaust Organizations and the Council of American Jewish Museums. She represented the Alabama Holocaust Commission. In addition to many fabulous panels and conference events, she also enjoyed visiting the Detroit Institute of Arts to see the Diego Rivera murals and other great art, as well as walking through Detroit to see public art murals. Conference attendees also visited the home of Henry and Clara Ford, which is currently closed to the public and undergoing extensive restoration, where attendees discussed how the new house museum will present his antisemitism, and we also took a walk along Detroit’s Riverwalk.
