UAH College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences

The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences offers programs that contribute to the intellectual development of students and that assist them in preparing for successful careers by emphasizing written and oral communication skills, critical analysis, and problem solving abilities. Our programs also promote an understanding of relationships among people as well as an awareness of the relationship between human beings and elements of the physical and biological world.

The Long Way Home: Animated Stories of International Child Abduction is a collection of animated short films inspired by the real experiences of youth and parent survivors of international parental child abduction (IPCA). Created by students in the animation program at UAH through a special topics course titled Animation for Social Change, the series transforms survivor interviews into visually powerful and emotionally intimate animated narratives.

Come out to support these incredible creators and hear the stories behind the animation!

Graduating Ambassador

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘‰What class surprised you the most?
"One class that surprised me the most was Sociological Theory with Dr. Steidl. I was surprised mostly by my own enjoyment of the class, as I had heard it was a very difficult one. Yet Dr. Steidl taught me how to think critically and, through the readings and class dynamic, I engaged more with that class than any before. It opened my mind to how I engage with the world and our knowledge about it. That class enabled me to become a more critical reader, a more coherent writer, and a better thinker. The rest of my time at UAH has been filtered through the lens of this experience, and I have grown profoundly because of it."
