This week on Meet Our Faculty, we’re introducing you to Professor Talley Kayser.
Talley teaches “Life, S*x, and Death: What the Salmon Say,” a weekend course built around watching the Kokanee salmon spawn at Lake Tahoe, where she brings in science, literature, and reflection to help students process what they witness. She’s also a poet and prose writer whose work explores the relationships between humans, other species, and the places we share.
Swipe through to hear what she hopes students take away from such a personal subject, her advice for anyone drawn to work at the intersection of literature, the environment, and human experience, and why the Lake Tahoe campus is essential to this course.
Talley also teaches Rewilding Your Attention in the Age of Social Media and Literature of Environmental Justice at the Lake Tahoe campus.
