IUP Ambassadors

The IUP Ambassadors is a group of student volunteers created to help and support the Office of Alumni and Friends with connecting students and alumni.

These student volunteers coordinate a variety of activities, including the following:

New Member Recruitment — New members are selected in the Spring semester through an application and interview process. Membership in the organization ranges between thirty-five and forty-five members. Admissions Events — Student volunteers greet prospective students and provide tours to visitors during the on-ca

mpus Explorations Days. Prospective Student Phone Calls — Each year the halls of Breezedale are buzzing when students call the top one thousand students accepted to IUP and encourage them to choose IUP as their school of choice. Distinguished Alumni Awards — The IUP Ambassadors provide support to the Office of Alumni Relations during the awards weekend. Salute to Grads — During the university’s cap-and-gown day at the Co-op Store, the Ambassadors congratulate graduating seniors and provide a welcome to the IUP Alumni Association. Freshman Record — The organization provides an opportunity for incoming students to be a part of a freshman yearbook. Young Alumni Day — The IUP Ambassadors, in cooperation with the IUP Alumni Association, honor six outstanding young alumni on campus each November. Kidz Karnival — The Kidz Karnival is held during Homecoming weekend each October. The IUP Ambassadors provide fun-filled activities for children of IUP alumni and the community. Tuition Raffle — During the Fall semester, the IUP Ambassadors raise funds for the university and the organization through the tuition raffle. Family members or students can buy a chance to win a semester of tuition to IUP.

We are of our IUP Ambassador, Khala Vines. Way to go, Khala!

Khala Vines, a sophomore international studies and Asian Studies major at Indiana University of Pennsylvania who recently won a 2020 David L. Boren Scholarship for international study, has been selected for two additional international competitive study abroad scholarships: the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship and a Freeman Award for Study in Asia Scholarship.

Last night, the IUP Ambassadors honored and thanked our 19 seniors that will be graduating this semester. Given the current circumstances, we obviously were not able to do this in person, so we did our Senior Send-Off through Zoom. We appreciate all of the hard work, effort, time and energy that all of these seniors put into the organization. Every single one of you made a significant impact to this organization.
