This week we are featuring our CoRe mentees!

My name is Jaelissa Akers, and I am a Junior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. My major is Music Education with a focus on Voice. I also play the violin as well! I am from Hershey, Pennsylvania, and yes, the air does sometimes smell like chocolate. When I am not doing school work I love to rock climb, be outside in nature, and hang out with my family and friends. I am so thankful for this opportunity to be apart of the CoRe Mentorship Program. I am excited to continue to build connections with other educators and future educators, as well as my mentor who can help guide me through my beginning teaching career and beyond. Teaching is a community and without it we would not be able to succeed, so I am beyond grateful to have this community of amazing people who can help build my knowledge adn strengths to become the best educator that I can be.
