Step back to 1911, when our dining hall looked a little different—but the sense of community was just as strong. This historic photo captures students gathered around tables in their finest attire, the atmosphere buzzing with conversation. More than a century later, faces and fashions have changed, but the spirit of gathering remains at the heart of our campus community.

The Toesuckers and Friends held their annual reunion on campus last month. We always enjoy the energy that this close-knit group radiates. It’s a joy to witness how traditions like this continue to thrive and to see how IUP friendships grow stronger with time.

If you have a group and would like to have a reunion, email us at [email protected].

IUP English education graduate Dr. Diane Taylor McGeehan '72 found enjoyment in teaching for more than 30 years. Recently, Dr. McGeehan established a scholarship to provide financial support for IUP students planning to become teachers.

“I created this scholarship to help future educators achieve their teaching goals,” McGeehan said. “To me, the most important careers are in education, especially teachers who major in English and the humanities. Those majors support a wide range of industries and careers,” she said.

Dr. McGeehan's scholarship is part of IUP's comprehensive fundraising campaign, Impact 150.

One week ago today, our Crimson Couples stood together and renewed the promises that have carried them through life's adventures. Surrounded by family, friends, and so much love, our Crimson Couple Vow Renewal was a celebration we'll treasure forever. Thank you to everyone who shared this beautiful day with us!

And they lived happily ever after. ❤️

One of the many joys of the IUP Vow Renewal Celebration was seeing lifelong friendships reunited.

These Kappa Sigma brothers first met at IUP in the mid-1970s, where they also met the women who would become their wives. Decades later, their friendships—and their marriages—are still going strong! Pictured with their wives: Paul Ruzomberka '74 and Debbie '76 (Dietrich) Ruzomberka '76; David Fox '75 and Patricia (Cellini) Fox '75; Robert Jack '74 and Lynne (Giuliana) Jack '77; Richard Strayer '75 and Maureen '76 (Kozusko) Strayer.

The celebration also brought together sorority sisters, former roommates, and longtime friends, creating a memorable day filled with reconnection, laughter, and cherished memories.

🏆 STANLEY CUP CONNECTION! 🏆

An IUP alumnus is just two wins away from hoisting the Stanley Cup!

Bill Burniston '91, a proud IUP graduate who began his career working with IUP's sports medicine team, serves as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Carolina Hurricanes. After a thrilling 5-3 Game 4 victory, the Hurricanes have evened the Stanley Cup Final at 2-2 and return home to Raleigh for a pivotal Game 5 tonight (Thursday, June 11).

Now in his ninth season as the Hurricanes' Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and his 10th season with the organization, Burniston has spent more than 25 years helping athletes perform at their highest level. His distinguished career has included work with USA Baseball's Collegiate National Team and leadership in the fields of athletic performance, injury prevention, and rehabilitation.

Now, the Crimson Hawk alumnus finds himself on hockey's biggest stage with a championship within reach.

Join us in cheering on Bill and the Hurricanes as they continue their quest for the Stanley Cup!

Go Bill! Go Canes!
