As we move toward the end of IUP's 150th anniversary celebration activities, we're throwing it back to our 125th anniversary, recognizing the amazing artwork of IUP Art Education alumnus and 1993 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, Bob Olszewski '68.

For the 125th anniversary in 2000, Bob was commissioned by IUP to design a commemorative box celebrating the milestone. The piece featured the Oak Grove trees, squirrels, and several iconic IUP buildings, capturing the spirit and beauty of campus.

To mark the 150th, Bob submitted one of his Gallery of Light pieces titled "Cinderella's Romantic Night" to the IUP Art Museum's art show featuring IUP alumni from across the nation.

Represented by this 1900s seal, Indiana State Normal School opened its doors in 1875, enrolling 225 students. All school events were held within a single building which contained a laboratory school for model teaching.

Now IUP and celebrating its 150th anniversary, the university offers over 140 undergraduate degree programs, over 70 minors and 35 certificate programs, and 70 graduate degree programs. With the recent spring commencement, IUP welcomed 1,400 new graduates to its 144,000 strong alumni base.

We've come a long way and look forward to the next 150 years.

For decades, IUP has prepared students to build meaningful careers and make an impact in their communities and professions. Kenn Marshall, a 1980 Journalism and Public Relations graduate, is one of many alumni continuing to do just that — now as an author.

Marshall will return to the Indiana area for a public book signing at the Indiana Free Library on Wednesday, June 3, at 6:00 p.m. Congratulations, Kenn!

Members and spouses of the IUP ROTC Class of '81 recently held its annual reunion, this year visiting Charleston, SC and Ft. Sumter.

Congratulations to Joel Valentine '02, who was recently appointed as a new board member for the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). As an accounting graduate of IUP, Joel is well prepared for this new role, in which he will lead the community and deliver new educational opportunities. Congratulations, Joel!

In case you missed it!

Pre-accreditation status ✅

IUP has officially earned pre-accreditation status for its College of Osteopathic Medicine, allowing the university to begin recruiting and admitting students.

With this milestone, IUP can also remove “proposed” from the college’s name.

IUP’s college would be the only college of osteopathic medicine at a public university in Pennsylvania.
