Ed Hartman ’86 is a 2026 IUP Distinguished Alumni Award recipient and A 2019 inductee into the IUP Athletics Hall of Fame.
Hartman was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1986 and played four seasons professionally, earning minor league MVP honors.
He went on to build a standout career as a financial and business leader. Today, he serves as executive vice president of Business Operations for the Pittsburgh Pirates, overseeing finance, human resources, strategy, and technology, along with development assets and key partnerships.
As founder of CFO BI LLC, Hartman led the successful turnaround of a $360 million transportation company. His career also includes leadership roles as CFO of Aires, executive vice president and CFO of the Buffalo Sabres, and CFO of Basis100, formerly a Toronto Stock Exchange-listed company.
