100 years of IOTA!!

On Saturday some of our SOT faculty and students attended IOTA conference at the Grand Plaza Hotel. They got to hear from over 20+ presenters and explore the vender and poster presentation session. Thanks INOTA for putting on such a great event, and we are so excited for the next 100!!

This week’s Lab Look-in: Pediatrics!

Our second-year MOT and OTD students got to go through a hands-on sensory lab and have been learning about all the different types of sensory inputs and regulation approaches. Looks like they had a lot of fun in the process!

Recently, these students have also undergone some skills checks where children from the community come in and the student work with them on assessments and interventions!

This week’s Lab Look-in: Wellness!

UIndy second-year OTD and MOT students had a great time engaging in brain boost, grounding, earthing, gratitude, and art stations with our Director of Counseling, Michelle Itzcack. These activities encouraged students to take a break, recharge, and practice healthy habits that support graduate student well-being!

We have been loving lab lately! Officially starting a new series where we take a look into what our students are up to in their labs here at UIndy SOT!

Starting off this series we are taking a peek into our Development course! In this lab, our MOT and OTD students got to work on reflexes and milestones with some kiddos from the community! We love seeing our students in action, practicing their skills!

Congratulations to Kim Strunk, one of the 2026 College of Health Sciences Outstanding Alumni Award recipients!

Kim Strunk, class of ‘96, was the Occupational Therapy honoree and rightly so! She started out in Indiana’s First Step program and eventually identified an area of need within the pediatric community. As a result she founded Hopebridge Autism Therapy Center and is currently their head of Clinical Strategy. On top of all of her accomplishments, she is an outstanding individual who truly embodies UIndy’s motto of Education for Service.

Congratulations again on this achievement and go Greyhounds!

Hi friends! We are looking for typically developing (or near-typically developing kids) to come in and join us for a lab. We're looking for kids ages 3-13 on Wednesday, October 7 from 9-11:30. We purposely aimed for school fall breaks so that if you need to get those kids out of the house — we'll take them! If you're interested in having your child come join us, you can email Alison at [email protected] or Olya at [email protected]. Thank you to those who have already volunteered for this or the other session!

In honor of yesterday being the first day of classes, we wanted to officially welcome our Greyhounds home! So happy to be back!

Yesterday was the first day of orientation for our new MOT/OTD Choice ‘29 cohort! Scroll along to see what activities we got up to as we welcome these new Greyhounds home!

Students participated in an OT Olympics relay race which featured button hooking, donning pants, using a sock aid, putting on a gait belt, and wheelchair racing!

Then UIndy KSPT joined up with us and completed their True Colors assessments. This helps students learn more about their own personality types as well as how to communicate with those of a differing ones!

It was a great first day and we loved having our new students on campus! Go Hounds!

Join us June 25–28 at the Turnstone Center to support athletes competing in the 2026 Power Soccer Conference Cup Series. No soccer experience required!

This is a great opportunity for individuals to promote inclusion, participation, and adaptive sports in action.
