Sigma Nu (ΣΝ) is an undergraduate secret-letter college fraternity that was founded by James Frank Hopkins, Greenfield Quarles and James McIlvaine Riley at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia shortly after Hopkins witnessed a severe hazing ritual by upperclassmen at the Virginia Military Institute. Sigma Nu prides itself on its anti-hazing principles, upon which the organization

was founded and continues to uphold through its anti-hazing initiative. The fraternity's values are summarized as an adherence to the principles of love, honor, and truth. Because of its military heritage, Sigma Nu retains many military trappings in its chapter ranks and traditions and places importance on the concept of personal honor. To believe in a Life of love,
To walk in the Way of honor,
To serve in the Light of truth;

Calling all Alumni 👨‍🎓

Mark your calendars! We’re officially one month out from our centennial celebration. We hope you’ll join us for this once-in-a-century milestone. As part of Butler University’s Homecoming weekend, all Epsilon Mu alumni are invited back to the chapter house for a special anniversary brunch.

Reconnect with brothers from across the decades, share memories, and celebrate the rich history and lasting legacy of Epsilon Mu. Representatives from Sigma Nu Fraternity Headquarters will also be joining us to deliver a special commemorative presentation honoring our chapter’s centennial. Whether you graduated recently or many years ago, we would be honored to have you join us for this historic celebration.

IFC MAN OF THE MONTH ‼️

Brother Jack Goehring ‘27 (.goehring2) was recently announced as IFC’s Greek Man of the Month for March. We couldn’t be more proud of all the hard work Jack has put in around the Butler community. He was also named Butler University Dance Marathon President during the month of March. Continue the great work Jack!
