UIndy's own Dr. Jon Noworyta conducted 1,000 young students in the INpact Band as a part of the World Championship Drum Corps International weekend at Lucas Oil Stadium in front of a crowd of over 20,000 people! Current students and alumni assisted with the event which brought fans from across the globe. In addition to alum, Morgan Knight-Snyder, who works with DCI throughout the year, Senior Music Industry major, Noah Maple served as the Event Operations Coordinator for the summer season helping the events team manage a 70+ show nationwide Summer Tour, ending here in Indianapolis.

UIndy Music Therapy student, Joselyn Golliher, attended her first International Mu Phi Epsilon convention this summer, representing the UIndy Beta Psi chapter in Ft. Wayne where she served as a business delegate and sang in the Convention chorus. Music Chair, Dr. Rebecca Sorley, performed with baritone Matthew Hoch, from Auburn University and also was a judge for the Mu Phi Epsilon Foundation International Competition featuring four incredible musicians. Wow, what an amazing summer of music camps at UIndy! Music for All Abilities, Summer Piano Camp, UIndy Piano Institute, Jazz and Recording camps were joined this year by Exploring Early Music and UIndy Fusion String camps enriching the lives of young musicians from age five through college.

Twelve UIndy students explored Hungary and Austria this May on a life-changing trip organized by Dr. Meredith Smith, Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education, and Dr. Ryan Behan, Associate Professor of Music and Director of Keyboard Studies. Nine music majors were able to participate in classes at the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét, Hungary where music teachers from all over the world come to learn how to teach children with the Kodály Concept. In addition, rising senior Music Performance major, Cassidy Rexroad, was able to have a lesson with László Borbély, faculty at the famous Liszt Academy. To top it off, Dr. Ryan Behan performed an all-Liszt piano concert at the Liszt Academy. The students returned home inspired by their experience.
