Congratulations to UIndy Music majors Jesse Garcia and Gene Contreras who received the "Betty On" Award today at our Departmental concert. This award is named after the late Betty Perry who was an amazing educator in Indianapolis and Founder of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, an educational initiative of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra providing low-cost instruction, meals and support for young musicians. Gene and Jesse receive tickets to the prestigious Ensemble Music Society concerts plus a stipend as a part of this recognition.

Written to disturb you, entertain you, and maybe even give you a sleepless night, you’ll definitely squirm a little lower in your seat as these two conjure a fearsome fall evening! UIndy music alumni took the stage at a recent Faculty Artist Concert Series program. Performance majors, Jenna Page, flute, and Ashton Vickery, piano, were part of the ensemble Forward Motion, who gave a terrific performance of new works including those by UIndy alums Luke Garrigus, Logan Purcell, and (not pictured) Daniel Dorsett.
