Congratulations to Emily Rangel Manrique, an associate adjunct faculty member in the Department of Global Languages and Cross-Cultural Studies, on winning the 2026 Dynes Award! Bill Dynes and his wife Nancy presented the honor at May’s Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences faculty meeting. Employing strategies to create an engaging learning environment involving students in the learning process, Emily teaches coursework from Spanish 101 and 102 to graduate classes. She consistently encourages students to think, collaborate, and use technology to connect course material to real contexts.

The Dynes Award for Excellence in Teaching annually recognizes one part-time faculty member from the Shaheen College who has demonstrated a strong record of quality teaching. The award is named for William “Bill” Dynes, Professor of English (1991-2021), who served his department as chair (2008-2013) and the College of Arts & Sciences as associate dean (2013-2017). An accomplished scholar and dedicated administrator, Bill’s passion for teaching – and for learning – is the true hallmark of his UIndy career, and earned him the admiration and respect of his colleagues and students.

Please join us in congratulating Emily on her award! 👏
